Youth Programs:

Sita also has many years of experience working with children in various enrichment activities. She has worked with young people in play therapy, alternative schools, counseling, and storytelling activities. She enjoys spending time engaging children in activities that help them learn to communicate more effectively.

Sita is available for the following youth programs:

  • Professional Storytelling - using creative alternatives to teach language skills
  • Activities teaching appreciation of diversity and positive skills to resolve conflict and differences - also peer mediation skills
  • Fun activities to teach positive communication skills
  • Dance or Movement facilitation

About Sita

In January 2004, Sita began serving on the board of the Houston Storytellers Guild and is currently President. You can attend the guild's open-mic "StorySwap" meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Ziggy's Restaurant at the corner Alabama and Greenbriar in Houston, Texas.

Sita performed three years ago at "Anansi Danced," which was a theatrical event in which storytellers and performers interacted to relate a story. She has performed in several concerts, including "Stories from the Edge," Tellebration 2004 & 2005, KPFT's lunch time "Open Forum," Spring Branch ISD's Annual Storytelling Festival, and the Texas Storytelling Association's Annual Festival.

Sita was also the emcee for the Annual Houston Liar's Contest.

For 2004, she was awarded the Joanne Melton Award by the guild -- for advancement in storytelling and commitment to the craft. Sita won the Rising Star Contest in Houston and performed at TEJAS Storytelling Festival, in 2005.
